What does the treatment entail?
The client lies down, fully clothed, on their side with their
head supported by a pillow. Once comfortable, a Hopi Candle made
from organically grown flax, extracts of honey, beeswax and herbs
is lit and placed in the outer ear passage. As the candle slowly
burns down (and this can take up to 12 minutes) it creates a warm,
comfortable sensation accompanied by some hissing and crackling
noises which are reminiscent of lying in front of a log fire.
The gentle heat generated by the candle creates a light suction
action known as the “chimney effect” and the slight
vibration of the flame creates a massage effect on the eardrum which
equalises the pressure in the sinuses, forehead and ear whilst slowly
loosening any impurities, to draw them away from the ear canal.
These impurities are then expelled naturally by the body over the
next few days.
This process is then repeated on the opposite ear.
